How We Celebrate #HummusDay6.19.17
Hummus has become more and more popular within the United States. From an appetizer to a meal topping, you are bound to find it on every foodies’ food list. It’s used in several different ways here at VERTS: Some like to top off their quinoa bowl with some extra flavor, while pita lovers tend to add it for a little more filling, while the remainders like to keep it simple by having it on the side as a delicious dip.
No matter how you like your hummus, it’s safe to say that it is definitely worth being celebrated.
As we prepared for International Hummus Day, we celebrated with a private hummus tasting at our Guadalupe location & invited some of Austin’s most popular influencers and food bloggers to an evening filled with bubbly wine, great conversations, and, of course, plenty of hummus.
With more than 20 invited guests stopping by, the night was filled with good vibes. Guests were welcomed by our events’ team as they were introduced to our popular hummus recipe in an unfamiliar way.
Our Events Chef Kate Schirm prepared our guests’ plate with a serving of our traditional hummus and/or roasted red pepper hummus. From there, guests could top off their hummus with toppings of their choice. Grilled pickles & beets, sumac onions, and slow-cooked pork were just a few of the different types of toppings that were available. The buffet style setup allowed our guests to dress the hummus towards their liking, in addition to giving them the opportunity to experience their individual idea of hummus in a brand new way.
Guests were overwhelmed with flavor! Statements like “top notch” and “absolutely amazing” described how delectable the culinary arts of Chef Kate brought together appetizing hummus plates. All in all, a great event to set the tone for International Hummus Day.
